Summer Hair, Skin & Makeup

Self-Care Is Important in the Summer

We’d like to share the following tips with you.

SKIN CARE:

Use Daily Sunscreen. It goes without saying how important a daily application of facial sunscreen is to prevent premature aging of the skin or even melanoma. Apply also to other exposed body parts during outdoor activities.

Always Remove Make-Up. Use an oil cleanser or a cleansing balm to remove any traces of make-up. It’s especially good to use in the summer, as it also acts as a hydrator.

Be Extra Careful with Glycolic Acid. Used in skin-peel treatments, glycolic acid and the sun are a dangerous combination. STAY OUT OF THE SUN when using peel treatments, as it can cause damage to the skin.

Remember to Exfoliate Weekly. This will remove heavy facial lotions and creams from within the pores and provide a much-needed deep cleaning for a healthy glow.

Tone and Moisturize Your Skin Right After a Shower. Your pores will be clean and open to absorb the moisture and keep skin from looking dry or ashy during the day.

HAIR CARE:

Use Hair Accessories. Accessories like hair bands, scarves, clips, and scrunchies are all easy solutions for hair that’s unmanageable or uncomfortable on humid days. There are many types to choose from for all kinds of hair.

Protect Summer Hair with Specialized Products. Use hair products specifically designed to protect hair from heat, especially if you have brittle or damaged hair.

Don’t Forget Your Scalp. Products designed for dry scalp will clean, add moisture, and make a difference with overall haircare. For a special treat, try an oil treatment with lavender or mint.

Apply a Hair Mask. After a long sun exposure, a hair mask will hydrate the hair and prevent it from becoming too brittle. Hair masks are formulated with nourishing ingredients like vitamins, minerals, botanical oils, castor oil, and vitamin E, which help replenish nutrients and moisture.

MAKE-UP:

Choose Waterproof Options. Waterproof eye make-up is important to use in the summer, even if you aren’t planning to be near the water. When the temps get hot, having your eyeliner or mascara run on a sweaty face is not attractive.

Experiment with Summertime Colors. Summer is a fun time to try new colors with your nail polish, lip gloss, eyeliner, or hair-color highlights. Maybe pinks or corals for nails and lips, blonde or colorful highlights for hair!

Always Carry Extra Essentials. Carry an extra makeup/skin-care bag in your car that can include cleansing wipes, hair ties, comb/brush, concealer, pressed powder, Q-Tips, eyeliner, and extra mascara. This way you’ll always be prepared for those spur-of-the-moment summer social activities. You can get ready quickly and look your best.
